RAJA TUN UDA LIBRARY FOUNDATION

Libraries are at the heart of community, culture, education, recreation and innovation. We believe in the power of public libraries to change lives and to help bridge gaps between communities.

Raja Tun Uda Library Foundation

Yayasan Perpustakaan Raja Tun Uda (Raja Tun Uda Library Foundation) is the fund raising arm of Raja Tun Uda Library, Shah Alam, a public library that aspires to provide the most comprehensive library collection for all people.

The establishment of the Foundation was instigated by the vision of HRH Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, Sultan of Selangor for a Foundation to be established to enrich and widen the Raja Tun Uda Library’s collections with a particular focus both on special needs visitors and readers and on Selangor’s rich cultural heritage and history and to do this by collecting donations from corporations and individuals for this purpose.

Sultan of Selangor launches Raja Tun Uda Library Foundation

23 NOV 2023 | SHAH ALAM: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has launched the Raja Tun Uda Library Foundation (YPRTU) to enrich and widen the Raja Tun Uda Library collection with a focus on special needs visitors and the state’s rich cultural heritage.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE TO THE RAJA TUN UDA LIBRARY

We will be collecting donations to enrich and widen the library’s collections with a particular focus on these three areas:
Visually and Hearing Impaired People

Visually and Hearing Impaired People

For the Library to offer an enhanced range of collections and facilities to enable such people, whether children or adult, to enjoy reading and to gain access to computers and the internet.
Special Need People

Special Needs People

To make the Library more welcoming, comfortable and inclusive by offering an expanded range of facilities, books, toys and other resources to enable such people, whether children or adults, to be more fulfilled and to support their families, focussing initially (but not exclusively) on those with Down’s Syndrome, Autism and Dyslexia.
Selangor's Heritage and History

Selangor’s Heritage and History

To support the Library’s aim to be a leading public repository of books, papers and other records documenting the rich cultural heritage and history of Selangor.

GENERAL COLLECTIONS

The Library aims to provide the most comprehensive library collection for all people from myriad walks of life. As this wider aim encompasses the Foundation’s own objectives, the Foundation will collaborate with and support the Library in achieving this aim to the extent it is so permitted under its approved objectives.
